Deep Creek Deli
Deep Creek Deli, established in 2007 in a caravan in Central Otago, has grown significantly over the years. In 2011, they took over Eskricks Butchery in North East Valley and expanded their main production area in South Dunedin. Known for selling high-quality meat, their primary focus is on producing a variety of European small goods, offering a wide range of award-winning sausages. Their meat is sourced from the best suppliers, and they personally know their farmers. With two German butchers on their team, they supply around 70 outlets, including cafes and restaurants across Otago, and have earned a strong reputation in the Dunedin community.
Deep Creek Deli is a real family affair. Enrico Gritzner & his butcher sons Pascal & David, along with daughter-in-law Britnay also a butcher, bring the art of European small goods and butchery to Dunedin using locally sourced meat all farmed to a high animal welfare standard. Enrico took over Estrick’s Butchery in North East Valley back in 2012 (in what has always been a butcher’s shop). With over 25 years in Germany, Korea & Dunedin as a professional brewmaster with master’s degree in brewing science, Enrico (who you always see with a smile on his face) is now the chief taster at Deep Creek. They are well known for their hand crafted authentic German bratwurst, pates and cured meats along with black pudding that they can’t ever have enough of for their customers.
Enrico likes the Market feeling & is enjoying meeting his Otago Farmers Market customers & vendors. You will get to meet the whole family including partner Dawn serving you at the Market each Saturday year-round. They have lots of German customers who want authentic flavours and everyday New Zealanders who enjoy their bacon, ham & good priced fresh meat along with their very popular venison salami’s. They also stock certified organic beef from West Otago and all pork is Freedom Farm NZ with boneless pork belly, roasts, Christmas hams and plenty more options of cuts. All small goods are gluten & MSG free and made at their Kiwi / German butchery.
