Calling Community and Market Gardens
After 3 years of tirelessly collecting the compostables gathered at the market every week YouthGrow are stepping aside to allow other groups to make the most of this opportunity.
We are therefore on the hunt for a community garden, or collective of community gardens to take up the mantle. The compostables break down quickly after being shredded and in the warmer months will produce worm filled compost in as little as 6 weeks.
The Otago Farmers Market Trust are fully committed to reducing waste at the market. As a result of collecting compostable materials form the market we have diverted close to 90% of market waste from landfill.
Please spread the word that we would love to talk to any group who might be interested in helping us with this project. We are super keen to keep this initiative rolling.
