  • 225g plain flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 125g butter
  • 125g brown sugar
  • 1 egg – beaten
  • 400g apples – sliced
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1Tbsp brown sugar

Apple Danish Cake

Method

  • Sift flour, baking powder & salt
  • Melt butter & sugar in a pan until combined, remove from heat to cool before whisking in egg
  • Fold in flour mix
  • Press 2/3 mixture into 20cm square baking tin
  • Place sliced apples in a layer onto base, mix together spices and additional sugar, sprinkle over apples
  • Spread remaining mixture evenly over the apples
  • Cook at 180 degrees Celsius for approx 45 mins
  • Cool for 30 mins in pan before removing
