Ingredients
- 225g plain flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Pinch salt
- 125g butter
- 125g brown sugar
- 1 egg – beaten
- 400g apples – sliced
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- 1tsp cinnamon
- 1Tbsp brown sugar
Apple Danish Cake
Method
- Sift flour, baking powder & salt
- Melt butter & sugar in a pan until combined, remove from heat to cool before whisking in egg
- Fold in flour mix
- Press 2/3 mixture into 20cm square baking tin
- Place sliced apples in a layer onto base, mix together spices and additional sugar, sprinkle over apples
- Spread remaining mixture evenly over the apples
- Cook at 180 degrees Celsius for approx 45 mins
- Cool for 30 mins in pan before removing
