Ingredients
- 500g pears peeled, cored and chopped
- 500g tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 2 fresh red or green chillies, seeded and chopped
- 125 ml cider vinegar
- 100g soft brown sugar
- 1 dessertspoon grated root ginger
- ½ tsp mustard powder
Heirloom Tomato and Pear Relish
Method
- In a heavy saucepan or casserole, combine all the ingredients and bring to the boil
- Reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning
- Ladle into hot sterilised jars and seal
